About
Mr Simon Abram is a Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon and University Senior Lecturer, practicing exclusively in knee surgery. He has a specialist interest in sports-specific ligament reconstruction (including ACL and MCL injuries), cartilage and meniscal repair, patellofemoral (kneecap) pain and instability, osteotomy (realignment surgery), and personalised partial and total knee replacement.
Through his clinics, Mr Abram offers comprehensive care for the full range of knee problems, from acute ligament injuries and complex meniscus or cartilage damage to advanced osteoarthritis. Treatment is tailored to your goals and lifestyle, with a clear explanation of options and a plan built around the latest research, surgical techniques, and carefully structured physiotherapy.
Mr Abram graduated from Oxford University (Christ Church) and completed early training in trauma, orthopaedics, and sports injury across hospitals in Glasgow. He returned to Oxford to complete a DPhil (PhD) and led development of the UK national guidelines on meniscal injuries. His subspecialist training was at leading UK centres including Oxford, Exeter, Oswestry (RJAH), and Bristol, combined with travelling fellowships across North America including Boston, New York, and Colorado.
Mr Abram has ongoing research in biomechanics, robotics, data-driven diagnosis, and AI-assisted surgical planning.
