Mr Sanjeev Anand is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising exclusively in knee conditions, ranging from sports injuries and ligament tears to complex, multi-ligament trauma and arthritic knee pain. His practice spans both adults and children, and he is widely recognised for his expertise in managing complex tertiary referrals from orthopaedic colleagues across the region.

A national authority on Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries, Mr Anand led the working group responsible for producing the UK’s national ACL reconstruction guidelines. He is equally renowned for his management of multi-ligament knee injuries and is committed to joint-preservation surgery, prioritising the protection of the meniscus and cartilage wherever possible to maintain long-term knee function.

Expertise and Clinical Approach

Mr Anand provides advanced assessment and treatment for a broad range of knee problems, including:

  • Sports-related knee injuries
  • ACL, PCL and multi-ligament instabilities
  • Meniscal tears and cartilage damage

He runs weekly Acute Knee Injury Clinics at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital, ensuring rapid diagnosis and early treatment of injuries that can often be missed without specialist review.

Training and Professional Background

Mr Anand completed his orthopaedic training in London, Manchester and Leeds, followed by specialist arthroplasty and sports injury fellowship training in Australia. He is a respected educator and regularly leads national arthroscopy skills courses for orthopaedic trainees.

As a founding member and Executive Director of the International Society for Knowledge for Surgeons on Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty (ISKSAA), he plays a central role in global knowledge-sharing within knee surgery. He is also Executive Editor of the Journal of Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery.

In 2023, he was honoured with the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK) President’s Medal and currently serves as Academic Secretary at the British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma and Arthroscopy Association (BOSTAA).
