About

Mr Mulay is an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 20 years of continuous practice since qualifying in India, and he has worked in the United Kingdom since 1998. He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2007.

He completed a dedicated arthroplasty fellowship in Leicester and received senior specialist training at the renowned Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham. He performs more than 200 lower‑limb joint replacement procedures each year, with consistently excellent outcomes, as evidenced by his data on the National Joint Registry.

Mr Mulay has a particular interest in hip and knee replacement surgery in the younger, active patient, employing techniques and implant choices that aim to optimise long‑term function and durability. His practice also includes arthroscopic knee surgery and revision hip and knee replacement procedures for more complex cases.

He has presented his work at national and international scientific meetings and has published in peer‑reviewed, indexed orthopaedic journals. His NHS practice is based at Burton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Other interests

I am a clinical Tutor responsible for the training of Junior Doctors in our NHS trust and responsible for their teaching and training.

Personal interests

Outside of work, Mr Mulay enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. His personal interests include tennis, travelling, skiing and running.
