About

Mr Sambath Tiroumal is a highly experienced consultant ophthalmologic surgeon based in Hampshire, specialising in cataract surgery and medical retina diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and retinal vein occlusions.

Mr Tiroumal has performed over 8,000 cataract surgeries. He is the lead for Medical Retina and intravitreal injection service at Royal Hampshire County hospital, Winchester. He also has extensive experience in general ophthalmology including management of dry eyes, YAG laser capsulotomy, lid lump removal, glaucoma, and correction of lid disorders like ectropion, entropion and blepharoplasty.

As well as doing private practice at Nuffield Health Wessex, he works as a substantive consultant Ophthalmologist for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (at Royal Hampshire County Hospital and Andover War Memorial Hospital). He is the Royal College Tutor for Ophthalmology department in the Trust and therefore keenly involved in specialist training related activities. He is also an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Mr Tiroumal has over 28 years of experience in ophthalmology. He became a consultant in the NHS in 2014. He is committed to delivering patient-centred care with a compassionate approach.
