About
Mr Robin Rees is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon working in the independent sector, where he treats patients with foot and ankle conditions.
He brings extensive knowledge and skill to his practice, having previously spent more than 17 years as a senior surgeon at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. During this time, he developed a strong reputation for managing both routine and complex lower‑limb problems.
Foot and ankle expertise
While in the NHS, Mr Rees was the lead surgeon for foot and ankle surgery, running a tertiary service for complex foot and ankle trauma. His previous roles included:
- Establishing and leading a specialist Achilles tendon service
- Treating patients with persistent Achilles tendon problems
- Being part of one of the region’s recognised centres offering total ankle replacements
Mr Rees is a strong advocate for modern, minimally invasive techniques in the treatment of bunions and foot osteoarthritis. He is also highly experienced in traditional surgical and non‑surgical approaches for common problems such as heel pain and Achilles tendinopathy.

Mr Rees has a strong interest in minimally invasive foot surgery, offering advanced procedures that support faster recovery, smaller incisions, and reduced postoperative discomfort.
His extensive experience in both traditional and minimally invasive techniques allow him to select the most effective approach for each patient.
Mr Rees has treated a wide range of professional athletes, including footballers, rugby union players, and hockey players, as well as professional dancers such as ballet performers. His expertise has helped them return to training, performing, and competing at the highest levels.
Personal interests
He is an avid walker, mountaineer, runner and student of tai chi and understands the importance of physical health and function in the modern world where time is precious.
