About
Mr Straw was born in Derby and was a professional footballer at Derby County FC before beginning a career in medicine. He Graduated from Leicester University in 1996 and did his Orthopaedic training through Nottingham and Derby.
Mr Straw undertook a fellowship in Sports Knee Surgery working for the renowned Mr Mark Clatworthy in New Zealand in 2006 treating many professional rugby players.
He was then appointed as a Consultant Knee Surgeon at the Royal Derby Hospital in 2007 following a further knee fellowship with Mr Geutjens.
Mr Straw specialises and undertakes all aspects of Knee Surgery at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.
In addition to treating sports knee injuries Mr Straw has extensive experience in Partial knee Replacements and was involved in the design, development and implementation of the Persona Partial Knee Replacement in 2017, which is now used worldwide.
Mr Straw also runs the acute knee injuries clinic alongside Mr Geutjens and Mr Bhangoo and has a Private Practice at the Derby Nuffield and the Royal Derby Hospitals.
