About
Mr Richard Kapur is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with specialist expertise in knee surgery and complex trauma of the lower limb. He completed his Trauma and Orthopaedic specialist training in the Severn Deanery, followed by an 18-month soft tissue knee fellowship in Sheffield. He then undertook a trauma fellowship in North Bristol, where he is currently completing a further knee fellowship while pursuing a substantive consultant post.
Mr Kapur specialises in knee replacement surgery for patients suffering from arthritis-related knee pain, stiffness, or limited movement. He performs both total and partial knee replacements, aiming to relieve pain and help patients return to everyday activities such as walking, driving, and exercise.
His other areas of interest include patellofemoral instability, ligament reconstruction, and the treatment of complex lower limb injuries, including fractures and soft tissue damage.
In addition to his surgical training, Mr Kapur holds a Master’s degree (MSc) in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University. This provides him with a detailed understanding of joint mechanics and implant design—knowledge that supports the long-term success of knee replacement procedures.
