About
After qualifying from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School in 1988, Rhys did his orthopaedic training on the Welsh Training Programme. He did the “arthroplasty and arthroscopy “ fellowship in Adelaide, Australia in 1997 before being appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee and shoulder surgery in Cardiff.
Rhys has provided specialist knee and shoulder surgery for over 25 years. His sports injury expertise led to him serving as Honorary Surgeon to the WRU and Cardiff Blues/Rugby for 15 years.
Rhys has been at the forefront of knee replacement surgery for 25 years,, performing thousands of total and partial knee replacements in his career, adopting computer-assisted surgery early, and serving as principal investigator for trials on knee design and implantation techniques. He is currently part of a worldwide faculty looking at the Medially Stabilised insert for DePuy’s Attune knee.
