About

I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist with over 35 years of experience in eye care. I work in both the NHS and private sector, including Nuffield Health Derby Hospital.

I specialise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye conditions. I have a particular interest in retinal (back of the eye) conditions and cataracts.

My aim is to provide clear, personalised care to help improve your vision and eye health.

I have trained and worked in the UK and internationally. This has given me broad experience in managing both routine and complex eye conditions.

Alongside my clinical work, I have been involved in teaching and training doctors. I have also worked as a Royal College Tutor, supporting medical education.

I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Areas of expertise

I diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions, including:

  • Cataracts (clouding of the natural lens of the eye)
  • Retinal conditions (problems affecting the back of the eye)
  • Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
  • Diabetic eye disease
  • Retinal vein occlusion (blockage of a vein in the eye)
  • General eye problems and vision concerns

Specialist procedures

I offer a range of treatments and procedures, including:

  • Cataract surgery, including lens implants to improve vision
  • Vitreoretinal surgery for complex eye conditions such as retinal detachment and macular problems
  • Eye injections to treat retinal diseases
  • Laser treatments for certain eye conditions
  • Management of complications after eye surgery

I use modern techniques to provide safe and effective treatment.

Teaching and research

I am actively involved in teaching, research and audit. I regularly contribute to medical education and help train healthcare professionals.

I also take part in research and publications to support improvements in eye care.

I provide patient‑centred care and focus on achieving the best possible outcomes. I will take time to explain your condition and treatment options clearly.

My goal is to help you feel informed, reassured and confident throughout your care.
