About
Mr Rajpal Nandra is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip conditions, including arthritis, sports-related hip injuries, and complex hip reconstruction.
He has particular expertise in primary and revision hip replacement surgery, as well as hip preservation techniques aimed at delaying or preventing the need for joint replacement. His clinical interests include femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), hip dysplasia, and rotational abnormalities of the hip and leg.
Mr Nandra has an extensive academic and clinical background. He holds an MBBS from the University of London and a BSc from Bart’s and The Royal London Medical School. He has also achieved both MRCS and FRCS qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons, alongside a Master’s degree in Research from the University of Birmingham and an MRCGP from the Royal College of General Practitioners.
He takes a personalised approach to care, using both cemented and uncemented hip replacements depending on the patient’s needs, lifestyle, and long-term outcomes.
A key focus of Mr Nandra’s work is helping younger patients with hip pain, often caused by underlying structural problems or sports injuries. He works closely with multidisciplinary teams to support recovery, using a combination of rehabilitation and minimally invasive techniques such as hip arthroscopy to preserve the natural joint wherever possible.
Mr Nandra is actively involved in research and national collaborations. He works with the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy and contributes to the Non-Arthroplasty Hip Registry.
