Mr R Venkataraman is currently working as a substantive consultant at Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since March 2017 with special interest in lower limb hip and knee, primary and revision arthroplasty surgery.
He has a 17 year orthopaedic clinical experience, including a fellowship in lower limb arthroplasty surgery, two postgraduate orthopaedic degrees and over five years of consultant level experience in the NHS. He has been doing independent lower limb arthroplasty for over 5 years now and has been involved in over 1000 hip and knee replacement surgery and has performed over 500 of these independently. His NJR (National Joint Registry) consultant level report indicates more than the national average activity and well within the average for patient related outcomes.

During the last 13 years in the NHS he has not only honed his subspecialist skillset in trauma and lower limb primary and revision arthroplasty but also developed and maintained a strong track record in medical education, research with continual audit, quality improvement activity, peer-reviewed publications and national and international presentations.

Treatments and tests offered by Mr Raja Venkataraman at Nuffield Health
Mr R Venkataraman strongly believes that not all of us are cut out for pioneering research. He understands it involves time and dedication to produce land mark quality research. While he has done his share of it, looking at results of Navigated knee replacements vs conventional knee replacements, he wouldn’t claim it to be cutting edge research.
Having said this, he fully understands how to critically appraise a research paper or a published journal article to decide if it’s something that he would adopt to his routine clinical practice or not.
