About
Mr Kotwal is a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon specialising in Mako robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery, knee arthritis and sports knee injuries. He treats a wide range of knee conditions including osteoarthritis, knee pain, knee locking, knee clicking, knee instability, soft tissue injuries and tendon injuries including Hamstring tendon avulsions. He has performed over 110 knee replacements in the last 12 months and has a revision rate lower than the national average.
Mr Kotwal completed his specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Wales, followed by a ‘Knee Fellowship’ at the internationally reputed North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre. He is an experienced surgeon with over 10 years’ experience working as a NHS Consultant. His clinical practice in the NHS is at the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. He has a keen interest in teaching and training and is an Honorary Clinical Teacher at Cardiff University. He is also a faculty member on knee surgery courses.
He has an active research interest in use of newer technologies such as smart phone apps and Robotics in knee surgery.
