Mr Raghavendra Sidaginamale

Known professionally as Mr/Dr Raghu, Mr Raghavendra Sidaginamale is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee joint replacement surgery.

Raghu has a strong focus on an improved quality of life for his patients, and prioritises delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care. He is a full-time consultant at University Hospital of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, where he manages trauma cases, runs elective clinics and theatres, and serves as Clinical Audit Lead. He is also a faculty member for FRCS exam preparation and an ATLS instructor, mentoring orthopaedic trainees across all levels.

After graduating from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in India, Dr Sidaginamale completed postgraduate training at the renowned Manipal Academy of Higher Education. He continued his surgical and orthopaedic training in the UK, working at East Lancashire Hospitals, Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham, and several London hospitals, earning his MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

He completed a six-year higher surgical training programme in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the North East Deanery and achieved his FRCS (Tr & Orth). He then undertook a prestigious fellowship in hip and knee arthroplasty in Auckland, New Zealand, gaining advanced experience in complex joint replacements, fracture fixation, and robotic-assisted surgery.

Dr Sidaginamale holds a PhD in Bioengineering from Newcastle University, with research that has influenced global management of metal-on-metal hip replacements. He continues to lead and supervise high-quality research in implant analysis.

He lives in the North East with his wife and two children.
