About
Mr Paul Leeder is a highly experienced Consultant General Surgeon specialising in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, upper gastrointestinal (GI) surgery, bariatric surgery and hernia repair. He provides expert care for a wide range of conditions, including obesity, gastro‑oesophageal cancer, reflux disease, gallstones and abdominal wall hernias. He also performs upper GI endoscopy for both diagnosis and treatment.
Mr Leeder is recognised for his advanced skills in minimally invasive surgery and performs more than 300 laparoscopic procedures each year, offering patients faster recovery, reduced postoperative discomfort and excellent outcomes.
Mr Leeder studied medicine at the University of Sheffield, qualifying in 1989. He completed his surgical training across several major UK centres, including Nottingham, Leeds and Oxford, gaining extensive experience in general and upper GI surgery.
He went on to undertake prestigious international specialist training in laparoscopic upper GI and bariatric surgery, completing fellowships and advanced training in:

- Hamburg, Germany
- Reading, UK
This breadth of international experience has equipped him with exceptional technical expertise and exposure to global best practice in advanced minimally invasive techniques.
Mr Leeder was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in Derby in 2002 and has since worked in both the NHS and private sectors, providing expert surgical care to patients across Derby and Nottingham.

Mr Leeder offers comprehensive assessment and management of upper GI and general surgical conditions, including:
