About
Mr Nitin Shetty is a highly experienced Consultant Spinal Surgeon specialising in the treatment of conditions affecting the neck, back and spine. He graduated in India and completed a postgraduate degree in Orthopaedics before undertaking specialist registrar training within the London Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Deanery.
Alongside his clinical training, Mr Shetty was involved in full-time research, which resulted in the award of a higher degree through submission of a thesis. He subsequently completed advanced spinal fellowships at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, where he received specialist training in both spinal deformity surgery and minimally invasive spinal procedures.
Mr Shetty has a particular interest in minimally invasive spine surgery, using advanced techniques that can help reduce tissue damage, shorten recovery times and improve patient outcomes. After graduating in India, Mr Shetty completed a postgraduate degree in Orthopaedics before progressing to specialist training in the renowned London Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Deanery. He also dedicated time to full-time research, earning an advanced degree through the submission of a research thesis, reflecting his commitment to evidence-based and innovative patient care.
Mr Shetty subsequently completed prestigious Spinal Surgery Fellowships at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), Stanmore, one of the UK's leading spinal centres, and at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. During two years of advanced fellowship training, he gained extensive experience treating spinal deformities such as scoliosis and kyphosis, while also developing specialist expertise in minimally invasive spinal surgery techniques.

- Minimally invasive lumbar decompression and fixation for trapped nerves, spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal) and instability of the lower back.
- Microdiscectomy for slipped discs (disc prolapse or herniated discs) causing leg pain, sciatica and nerve compression.
- Cervical decompression and fusion for neck pain, arm pain, cervical radiculopathy (pinched nerves in the neck) and cervical spinal stenosis.
- Spinal injections to help diagnose and relieve back pain, neck pain, nerve pain and sciatica.
- Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty for painful spinal compression fractures, often associated with osteoporosis.
- Spinal fracture fixation following trauma or unstable spinal fractures.
- Treatment of spinal infections, including disc infections and vertebral osteomyelitis.
- Management of degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis (slipped vertebrae), arthritis of the spine, chronic back pain and other degenerative spinal disorders.
