Mr Nigel D’Souza is a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton and Spire Southampton Hospital, specialising in minimally invasive and robotic surgery for:
Colorectal cancer
Diverticular disease
Inflammatory bowel disease
Proctology conditions including haemorrhoids, fistula, and pilonidal disease
He trained in London, Australia, and South Africa, before completing fellowships in advanced colorectal surgery.
Mr D’Souza is also an active researcher and principal investigator for multiple national and international clinical trials, focusing on bowel cancer screening, colorectal cancer vaccines, and organ-preserving treatments for rectal cancer. He has published extensively, led the landmark NICE FIT study, and contributed to updated UK guidelines on the use of the faecal immunochemical test (FIT).
