About
Mr Nick Woodcock is an experienced Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with specialist expertise in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), intestinal failure, enteric fistula management and adjuvant nutritional support.
He has worked at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2006, where he is an active member of both the IBD and Nutrition Multidisciplinary Teams, contributing specialist expertise in complex gastrointestinal conditions.
He is also a Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland (ASGBI).
Education and research
Mr Woodcock qualified from the University of Leeds Medical School in 1994 and completed his Basic Surgical Training in Scarborough.
He subsequently undertook a period of research under the supervision of Professor John MacFie, leading to the award of an MD in 2002 for his thesis Gut Function in Surgical and Critically Ill Patients. His research was also recognised with the John Kinney Prize for Nutrition (2001).
Mr Woodcock completed Higher Surgical Training in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery, achieving Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 2005. He received his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2006.
