Mr Nick Ohly is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Glasgow, specialising exclusively in hip and knee replacement surgery.
With advanced expertise in robotic‑assisted joint replacement, partial knee replacement, and complex and revision (re-do) surgery, he is recognised as one of the UK’s highest‑volume Mako robotic surgeons, having performed over 1000 robotic procedures and more than 3000 joint replacements overall.
He provides expert care to patients from across Scotland through his NHS practice at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital and privately at Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital.
He is known for his precision, patient‑centred approach, and excellent surgical outcomes. Mr Ohly is also frequently invited to teach nationally and internationally on advanced hip and knee replacement techniques.
Training and qualifications
Mr Ohly graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2001 and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He completed specialist orthopaedic training in Edinburgh before undertaking a prestigious Fellowship in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.
In 2014, he was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, where he runs a high‑volume arthroplasty practice focused exclusively on joint replacment surgery. He also supervises an international fellowship in robotic and revision joint replacement. He has been consulting privately at Nuffield Health since 2019.

Mr Ohly is actively involved in clinical research and holds an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering.
His published work covers a range of topics related to joint replacement surgery including complex hip replacement, fractures following hip replacement, revision ACL reconstruction, and hindfoot fusion. He has co-authored book chapters on arthritis following ACL injury, and peri-prosthetic hip fractures.
In his NHS practice, he is currently chief investigator on a number of clinical studies investigating new hip and knee replacement implant technologies.
