I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee surgery. I treat a wide range of knee problems, including sports injuries and conditions that affect the joint over time.

I have over 20 years of medical experience. I provide advanced care in both the NHS and private sector. I work at Royal Derby Hospital and also see private patients at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital.

I offer personalised treatments to help reduce pain, improve movement and support your recovery. I use modern surgical techniques to achieve the best possible results.

Areas of expertise

I treat a wide range of knee conditions, including sports injuries and wear‑and‑tear problems. My specialist procedures include:

• Total knee replacement (replacing the whole knee joint)
• Partial knee replacement (replacing only the damaged part of the knee)
• ACL reconstruction (repairing a torn knee ligament)
• Ligament repair surgery
• Knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery to look inside the knee and treat problems)
• Management of patella instability (kneecap problems)

I also have a strong interest in joint preservation. This means using techniques to protect and maintain your natural knee joint where possible.

Training and experience

I qualified in medicine from the University of Birmingham in 2003. I then completed extensive specialist training in orthopaedic surgery.

I have trained internationally to develop advanced skills. I was awarded a travelling fellowship to the USA, where I worked with Professor Freddie Fu, a leading expert in sports knee surgery. I also trained in France with Professor Jean‑Noel Argenson, an expert in partial knee replacement.

I have undertaken research at University College London and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. This focused on stem cell technology and cartilage regeneration, which aim to repair damaged joint tissue.

Advanced techniques and innovation

I have worked with leading surgeons to introduce new techniques into practice. These include computer‑assisted osteotomy, which uses technology to improve accuracy during surgery.

I am also interested in new approaches to cartilage regeneration. These treatments aim to restore damaged cartilage and improve joint function.
