Mr Michael Esson

Mr Esson is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who sees patients at Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital and the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust.

He trained in the South West and has been a Consultant at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital since 2008.

Mr Esson treats a wide range of conditions affecting the mouth, jaw, face, and neck. His experience includes caring for patients with head and neck cancer, facial injuries and fractures, salivary gland problems, facial deformities, and oral medicine conditions. He also carries out surgical removal of teeth and provides medico‑legal reports.

Special interests

Mr Esson has a particular interest in dental implants. This includes placing implants and carrying out bone‑grafting procedures—such as sinus lifts and onlay grafts—when extra bone is needed before implants can be placed.
