About
Mr Mark Whittaker is a Consultant Gynaecologist with more than 10 years experience as a consultant in the NHS and private practise. His main areas of interest include the management of menstrual disorders, endometriosis, pelvic pain, painful sex and the treatment of prolapse.
He has considerable experience in treating women with heavy and painful periods using both medical and surgical treatments, including Mirena and endometrial excision and ablation procedures. He is competent to perform laparascopic hysterectomy and has been involved nationally studying different types of hysterectomy.
His other major interest is the management of endometriosis and is able to treat this condition using laparoscopic techniques. He is currently on the working group focused on developing national Endometriosis Centres for the surgical treatment of advanced endometriosis.
He is very experienced in dealing with most benign gynaecological conditions and regularly performs surgery for prolapse.
Since qualifying as a Consultant Gynaecologist he has been very involved in teaching and training doctors in how to perform 'keyhole' surgery in gynaecology. Wherever possible he uses these less invasive approaches in treating his patients.
