About
Mr Mark Granger Williams is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery. He also treats selected hand conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger and De Quervain's tenosynovitis.
He graduated from the University of Edinburgh before completing higher surgical training across the South West Peninsula, gaining extensive experience in both elective orthopaedics and complex trauma surgery. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2023 and completed advanced fellowship training in upper limb surgery at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. In 2025, he was appointed as a substantive Consultant at Torbay Hospital following a period as a Locum Consultant at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton.
Mr Williams diagnoses and treats a wide range of shoulder and elbow conditions, including arthritis, rotator cuff disorders, instability, sports injuries, tendon disorders and fractures. He also performs surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger and De Quervain's tenosynovitis.
His expertise includes shoulder replacement surgery, advanced arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery and upper limb trauma surgery. He uses the latest evidence-based techniques to help reduce pain, restore movement and support patients in returning to their everyday activities as quickly and safely as possible.
Mr Williams believes in working closely with each patient to understand their goals and develop a personalised treatment plan, providing clear advice and support from the first consultation through to recovery and rehabilitation.
Please note: Mr Williams does not assess or treat Dupuytren's disease, wrist tendon tears associated with rheumatoid arthritis, base of thumb arthritis, or patients requiring elbow replacement surgery.
