Mr Liviu Nicolae

Mr Liviu Nicolae is a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon. He completed the majority of his Neurosurgical training in Bristol, and he also has overseas experience. During his training he completed the well sought after 4-year EANS European neurosurgical training course and a 1-year Royal College of Surgeons-recognised surgical neuro-oncology fellowship.

He is a dual trained spinal surgeon having also completed a fellowship in complex spine orthopaedic surgery in addition to his neurosurgical training. Therefore, he can bring in his practice skills from both Neurosurgery and Spinal Orthopaedic Surgery. He has gained additional overseas training and experience through workshops and hands on courses in both microsurgical and instrumented surgical techniques in Europe and the US, including spinal navigation and robotics. He regularly attends national and international meetings.

Mr Nicolae manages both extradural and intradural pathology and has a wide range of experience in spinal surgery, including for degenerative disease, trauma, tumour, infection or intradural pathology. He has an interest in minimally invasive interventions and spinal navigation for instrumented procedures, both cervical and lumbar spine.

He is focused on providing individualised care and supporting each patient in joint decision making for both non-surgical and surgical management options.
