About
Mr Kalyana Javangula is an experienced consultant cardiac surgeon specialising in coronary artery bypass grafting, complex valve surgery and advanced aortic procedures.
He brings international expertise to his practice, having begun his consultant career in India before moving to the UK, where he has worked at leading cardiac centres including the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, and currently Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
He is also an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Leeds School of Medicine, where he is actively involved in teaching, mentoring and developing the next generation of cardiac surgeons.

Mr Javangula has performed over 3,000 major cardiac procedures, including complex and emergency operations, with an overall survival rate of 99%.
His outcomes include:
- 1,000+ CABG surgeries with 99.8% survival
- 550+ aortic valve replacement surgeries with 99.5% survival
- Stroke rate <1%
- Bleeding complications <1%.
He is also recognised as the first consultant in the UK to achieve a 0% complication rate in his first 100 cardiac operations, an achievement acknowledged by the World Society of Cardiac Surgeons (WSCTS).

Mr Javangula has done research in rheumatic valve disease and surgical interventions and also the thoracic trauma involving the diaphragm. His research interests include connective tissue disorders affecting the aorta and bicuspid aortic valve.
