Mr Jonathan Pollock

I am a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon based at Nottingham University Hospitals. I specialise in skin cancer surgery and facial reconstruction.

I provide private care at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital.  I also work in the NHS at Nottingham University Hospitals, including Queen’s Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital. I am part of the specialist skin cancer (MDT) team in Derby.

Training and experience

I studied medicine at the University of Nottingham, where I gained my degrees in medical science and medicine.

I completed my specialist training in Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgery in the East Midlands. I was awarded the Ian McGregor Gold Medal for achieving the highest mark in the national FRCS (Plast) exam.

I then completed advanced national fellowships:

• Skin cancer surgery at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital
• Head and neck reconstruction at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

I was appointed as a Consultant in 2016.

Professional roles and teaching

I am Chair of the East Midlands Skin Cancer Network. I am also the lead Plastic Surgeon for the skin cancer service in Nottingham.

I contribute to national training as part of the Specialist Advisory Committee for plastic surgery. I regularly teach and lecture both in the UK and internationally.

I have written a book chapter on reconstruction techniques and have contributed to over 40 presentations and research publications.

Areas of expertise

I specialise in diagnosing and treating skin cancer. I offer a full range of surgical treatments, including:

• Removal of skin cancer, including melanoma and other malignant (cancerous) lesions
• Sentinel lymph node biopsy (a test to check if melanoma has spread)
• Surgery to remove lymph nodes where needed
• Complex facial reconstruction after cancer or injury
• Reconstruction following Mohs surgery (a precise type of skin cancer removal)

I also treat non‑cancerous (benign) skin lesions where appropriate.

Appointments

I currently focus on seeing patients with skin cancer. This includes melanoma and basal cell carcinoma.

I do not offer cosmetic procedures at this time.
