Mr Jonathan A. Clamp

Mr. Clamp is the Senior Consultant Spinal Surgeon at the Royal Derby Spinal Centre and Head of Service for Spinal Surgery. He is a highly experienced, fellowship‑trained Consultant specialising in the full breadth of adult and paediatric spinal pathology.

His clinical practice encompasses all aspects of spinal surgery, with particular expertise in degenerative spinal conditions—the most common causes of back, leg, neck, and arm pain—as well as spinal trauma and metastatic spinal disease. His work includes the use of advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Mr. Clamp manages a high volume of complex adult spinal surgery, including anterior thoracic procedures, multi‑level anterior lumbar surgery, and intricate three‑dimensional adult deformity corrections. He also performs a wide range of complex spinal injection therapies, such as cervical and thoracic transforaminal epidurals and atlanto‑axial joint injections. He frequently receives complex tertiary referrals from fellow Consultants.

He is an active member of both the British Association of Spinal Surgeons and the International AO Spine Society.

Mr. Clamp has authored numerous peer‑reviewed publications, contributed chapters to specialist textbooks, and written operative technique guides for spinal surgical procedures. He lectures widely on spinal surgery and regularly serves as faculty on national and international instructional courses, including consultant‑level training programmes.
