About
Mr Lordan is a highly experienced Consultant in Upper Gastrointestinal (GI), Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) and General Surgery based at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. He provides expert diagnosis, surgical treatment and ongoing care for a wide range of abdominal conditions. He has a special interest in complex benign liver and pancreatic disease, hernia repair and gallbladder disease. He specialises in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, offering procedures that support faster recovery and reduced pain. His clinical practice includes the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the liver, pancreas, stomach and upper digestive tract using both open surgery and laparoscopic techniques.
Clinical Leadership
Mr Lordan is the Tumour Site Specific Group (TSSG) Lead for Upper GI and HPB cancer within the Kent and Medway Cancer Collaborative (KMCC). He works within multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality cancer care, including surgery, treatment planning and follow-up therapy.
Training and Experience
Mr Lordan trained at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Medical School in London. He completed his surgical training in the South West Thames London Deanery. He undertook specialist fellowships at: - The Liver and Transplant Unit in Birmingham - The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London Between 2015 and 2020, he was a Consultant HPB, Sarcoma and Multi-organ Retrieval Surgeon at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Between 2014 and 2015, he worked as a Locum Consultant HPB and Multi-organ Retrieval Surgeon at the Birmingham Liver Transplant Unit. Teaching and Research Mr Lordan is a Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) Tutor and is actively involved in training junior doctors. He has received:
- Outstanding Teaching Award (2017) - University College London
- Top Teachers Award (2017) - University College London
- Excellence in Medical Teaching Award (2006) - Frimley Park Hospital
He completed a PhD in the biology of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary cancer and continues to contribute to research in this field. He has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and presented at over 75 national and international conferences.
Additional Contributions
Mr Lordan launched the RCS START (Surgical Training and Assessment of Readiness) course at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust to support foundation doctors preparing for surgical training.
