About
Mr Jamie Griffiths is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement surgery. He has expertise in primary, complex primary and revision joint replacement, helping patients with both routine and more challenging hip and knee conditions.
He studied medicine at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine in London, qualifying in 2005. He completed his specialist orthopaedic training in the Wessex region.
Mr Griffiths has developed a particular interest in complex hip surgery, including pelvic and acetabular (hip socket) reconstruction, as well as hip resurfacing procedures.
To further advance his expertise, he completed a specialist fellowship in complex lower limb arthroplasty and reconstruction in Perth, Australia in 2014. This included extensive experience in complex hip and knee replacement surgery and reconstruction following bone tumour treatment. He then undertook additional advanced fellowships in lower limb arthroplasty and pelvic reconstruction, including specialist training in Denver, Colorado, USA.
He was appointed as a consultant at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is now the Arthroplasty Lead for the trust. In this role, he is involved in regional and national programmes for complex hip replacement surgery.
Mr Griffiths is also actively involved in research. He is the principal investigator on several clinical studies assessing new and innovative joint replacement implants being introduced into the NHS, helping to improve outcomes for patients.
