About
Mr James Ritchie is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising purely in foot and ankle problems in children and adults. He has more than twenty years of experience working with dancers, Olympians and other elite athletes at one end of the spectrum to less-elite athletes and those who simply wish to walk pain-free at the other.
Nationally and internationally respected, Mr Ritchie is a senior Council member of the European Foot and Ankle Society and is frequently invited to speak at international surgical congresses, recently including academic conferences in Brussels, Vilnius and Munich as well as the British congress in Glasgow. He is strongly committed to training other foot and ankle surgeons and teaches regularly on courses at the Universities of Barcelona, Copenhagen and Krakow as well as at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore.
Mr Ritchie sits on the Scientific Committee of the British Foot and Ankle Society for which he runs the Virtual Journal Club online training programme for British surgeons and is a member of the Expert Working Group for Orthopaedics for NHS England.
Mr Ritchie is known for his sympathetic and methodical approach to even the most complex of foot and ankle problems and is committed to providing outstanding care by first listening carefully in order to understand his patients’ problems then devising a treatment plan tailored to each person’s unique needs.
