Mr Emanuele Garreffa

Mr Emanuele Garreffa is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon based at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. He treats all aspects of breast disease, including both benign conditions and breast cancer, and also cares for patients with a family history of breast cancer.

Mr Garreffa is highly experienced in oncoplastic breast surgery, which combines cancer treatment with techniques to preserve or restore the natural appearance of the breast. He uses the latest surgical methods to achieve the best possible clinical and cosmetic outcomes.

He completed his specialist breast surgery training in Italy, followed by two advanced fellowships in Derby and Cambridge. During this time, he gained extensive experience in breast‑preserving cancer surgery as well as breast reconstruction. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and of the European Board of Surgery. In 2021, he was awarded the European Certification in Breast Surgical Oncology (BRESO), making him one of only a small number of BRESO‑certified surgeons in the UK.

Mr Garreffa is also the Programme Director of the BRESO International Fellowship Programme, which attracts surgeons from around the world to train in advanced breast cancer and oncoplastic surgery under his supervision.

• Full breast reconstruction using implants, latissimus dorsi (LD) muscle flaps, or chest wall perforator flaps
• Lipofilling (fat transfer) to improve shape and appearance

He also offers breast augmentation, breast uplift (mastopexy), and breast reduction, only when required to correct asymmetry following breast cancer surgery.
