About
I am a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial and Head and Neck Surgeon. I provide private care at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital and work in the NHS at Royal Derby Hospital and Queen’s Hospital Burton.
I specialise in conditions affecting the mouth, jaw, face and neck. My aim is to provide clear advice and high‑quality surgical care tailored to your needs.
I was appointed as a Consultant in 2008. I studied medicine at the University of Nottingham and dentistry at the University of Manchester.
I completed my higher surgical training in the East Midlands. This gave me broad experience across all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Areas of expertise
I treat a wide range of conditions, including:
- Head and neck cancer
- Facial skin cancer (both benign and cancerous lesions)
- Salivary gland conditions (such as lumps or blockages)
- Facial injuries and trauma
- General oral and maxillofacial problems
I am part of a specialist multidisciplinary team. This means I work closely with other experts to plan the best care for you.
Specialist procedures
I carry out a range of surgical treatments, including:
- Surgery for head and neck cancers
- Reconstructive surgery after cancer or injury
- Treatment of salivary gland disease
- Removal of facial skin lesions
- Surgery for facial injuries
I use modern techniques to provide safe and effective treatment.
Teaching and training
I am actively involved in training other surgeons. I am part of the AO UK faculty, where I teach facial trauma and reconstructive techniques.
I have also held senior education roles, including:
- Vice Chair of the Surgical Advisory Committee at the Royal College of Surgeons
- Recruitment Lead for specialist head and neck training
- Training Programme Director for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the East Midlands
