About
Mr David Allen is a consultant hip and knee surgeon based at the Glasgow Nuffield Hospital who specialises exclusively in hip replacements, partial knee replacements and total knee replacements.
He has performed or directly supervised over 5500 of these making him one of the most experienced joint replacement surgeons in Scotland.
He offers Mako robot assisted hip and knee surgery to deliver precision implant placement. He has now performed many daycase joint replacements allowing suitable patients home the same day as their surgery. Having experience of being a patient himself, he combines a patient centered approach with his experience.
Education
Mr Allen has an MSc with Distinction from Strathclyde University in Biomedical Engineering. He did his higher surgical training based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London and he also did an adult reconstruction fellowship in Ottawa, Canada.
Teaching
He is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons and is a reviewer for orthopaedic journals. He is sought after by surgeons who have qualified as consultants but seek further subspecialty training before taking up a post.
