About
Mr Conal Quah is a fellowship‑trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in lower‑limb arthroplasty. His NHS practice is based at the Royal Derby Hospital, where he provides expert care in both primary joint replacement surgery and the management of complex reconstructive problems.
Mr Quah graduated from the University of Dundee and initially worked in the North East of England before moving to the East Midlands (North) to undertake the highly regarded Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery training programme. He subsequently completed prestigious national and international fellowships, gaining extensive experience in advanced hip and knee arthroplasty, including the management of joint infection, periprosthetic fractures and severe bone loss.
Mr Quah has an active academic profile and has authored numerous peer‑reviewed scientific papers and book chapters. He is also the co‑founder of a surgical journal aimed at orthopaedic trainees. He has presented his research widely at both national and international meetings.
Alongside his clinical and academic work, Mr Quah is strongly committed to education. He teaches medical students, surgical trainees and allied health professionals, and serves as faculty on several national and international courses, where he lectures and demonstrates surgical techniques.
