Mr Chrishan Thakar

I’m a fellowship-trained spinal surgeon dedicated to helping you understand and manage your spinal condition. I offer expert care for a broad range of back and spine issues, with a specialist interest in paediatric spinal deformity.

I currently serve as the Clinical Lead for Spinal Surgery at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where I focus on delivering safe, effective, and personalised care for every patient.

My experience and training

I completed my orthopaedic training in Oxford in 2016 and became a Consultant Spinal Surgeon in 2018. I have also completed advanced specialist fellowships at leading centres, including:

• Oxford
• Stoke Mandeville Hospital
• Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital
• Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore, India

This extensive training allows me to thoroughly assess your condition and recommend the most appropriate treatment.

Research, education and leadership

Alongside my clinical work, I’m actively involved in advancing spinal care through research and education. I sit on the EuroSpine Education Committee and have previously served on the executive committee of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons.
