About
Mr Chris Wilson has devoted his medical career to the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, including disorders affecting the bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles.
He spends one day each week in theatre performing operative procedures, including emergency surgery, and a further day undertaking planned reconstructive surgery, primarily focusing on knee surgery.
His responsibilities also include supervising and training specialist orthopaedic trainees, as well as visiting overseas trainees.
Outside of the theatre, Mr Wilson spends the remainder of his week in outpatient clinics, alongside his teaching and training commitments. Much of his routine surgical work involves major lower limb joint procedures, including a high volume of joint replacements, particularly in complex cases such as those involving rheumatoid arthritis.
Mr Wilson has a strong interest in education and training at all levels and is a member of the teaching faculty for several Royal College of Surgeons courses.
He also has extensive experience in modern surgical techniques, including minimally invasive (‘mini’) knee replacements, joint surface preservation and grafting, and ligament reconstruction of the knee.
