About
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hand and wrist surgery. I have many years of experience treating both simple and complex conditions affecting the hand and wrist.
I qualified in medicine from the University of Zaragoza in Spain in 1988.
I moved to the UK to continue my training. I completed my early surgical training and gained my Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 1993.
I then completed higher specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma in Leicester. I gained my FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2000.
I went on to complete specialist training in hand surgery in Leicester. I also undertook advanced fellowships in Derby and Oxford.
In 2001, I was awarded the prestigious Pulvertaft Fellowship. This included training at St James’ University Hospital in Leeds.
Later that year, I joined the Pulvertaft Hand Centre as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.
Areas of expertise
I specialise in diagnosing and treating hand and wrist conditions, including:
- Scaphoid fractures (a break in a small bone in the wrist) and non‑union (when a fracture does not heal properly)
- Wrist pain and degenerative conditions (wear and tear in the joint)
- Wrist instability (looseness or weakness in the joint)
- Complications after distal radius fractures (fractures near the wrist)
I have particular expertise in complex wrist problems and reconstruction after injury.
Teaching and training
I am actively involved in teaching and postgraduate education.
I co‑chair the Derby Wrist Course and regularly teach on national and international training courses.
I am also a long‑standing faculty member for AO Hand and Wrist courses, where I help train surgeons in advanced techniques.

I aim to provide clear advice and specialist care tailored to your needs. I will take time to explain your condition and treatment options.
