About
Mr Robertson is a highly experienced Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon based in Scotland and currently practising within NHS Lothian. He provides expert care for patients requiring treatment for skin cancer, breast reconstruction, head and neck reconstruction, and a wide range of general plastic surgery conditions.
Bernard has a particular interest in the diagnosis, treatment and reconstruction of both simple and complex skin cancers, helping patients achieve the best possible functional and cosmetic outcomes. His practice also includes advanced reconstructive procedures following cancer treatment, trauma and other conditions affecting appearance and wellbeing.
Appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in 2021, Bernard combines specialist surgical expertise with a patient-centred approach. He has previously served as Clinical Lead for Skin Cancer within an NHS trust, reflecting his extensive experience in the management of skin cancer services and multidisciplinary care.
Education
Bernard completed his Higher Surgical Training in Plastic Surgery across leading units throughout Scotland before undertaking the prestigious BAPRAS/BAAPS Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship. This advanced fellowship provided specialist training in both reconstructive and aesthetic surgical techniques, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Teaching
Alongside his clinical work, Bernard is passionate about medical education and training the next generation of healthcare professionals. He is currently the Course Organiser and Instructor for the Emergency Management of Burns Course in Scotland, where he teaches healthcare teams the latest approaches to the assessment and treatment of burn injuries.
