Mr Ben Lamb joined Addenbrooke’s Hospital in 2018 as a Consultant Urological and Robotic Surgeon.

Mr Lamb trained in general urology in London and the South East of England. He has also undertaken specialist training in prostate, bladder and kidney cancers, as well as robotic surgery, including a Fellowship in urological oncology and robotic surgery at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Lamb is currently the lead clinician for urological cancer, and the urology cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Mr Lamb also enjoys teaching medical students, doctors and allied healthcare professionals a wide range of topics from communication skills, to MDT working, to urological sciences. He is course faculty for the Urology MSc at Anglia Ruskin University and the Cambridge Emergency Urology Course. He is also the Male CTA lead for the Cambridge Clinical School.

With his research interest in improving clinical processes and enjoyment of teaching, Mr Lamb has been course director of MDT improvement workshops in England and overseas.

Mr Lamb has various interests in research and quality improvement and has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals.

For over 10 years Mr Lamb has worked with researchers around the world to understand and improve clinical decision making in MDT cancer teams. He has developed and validated several interventions for cancer teams to use in order to improve their performance, which has been used by researchers and clinicians in different countries and numerous tumour types.

Most recently, he has directed workshops for cancer alliances in England to train lead healthcare professionals to measure and improve decision making in MDT meetings.

Mr Lamb is also involved in clinical research and currently sits on the trial management groups for the CamPROBE and NeuroSAFE studies. He has published research on prostate and bladder cancer, robotic surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery.
