About

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon. I specialise in foot and ankle conditions. I provide private care here at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital.

I have over 35 years of medical experience. I have worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2003. I focus on both planned surgery and the treatment of complex injuries.

My aim is to reduce your pain, improve your movement and help you return to your normal activities.

Areas of expertise

I treat a wide range of foot and ankle problems, including:

  • Long‑term foot pain
  • Arthritis affecting the joints in the foot and ankle
  • Sports injuries
  • Complex injuries to the lower limb
  • Diabetic foot problems
  • Flat feet and nerve conditions, such as tarsal tunnel syndrome (pressure on a nerve in the ankle)

Specialist procedures

I offer a range of surgical treatments, including:

  • Forefoot reconstruction, such as bunion correction (hallux valgus) and correction of toe deformities
  • Big toe joint fusion for severe arthritis
  • Tendon and soft tissue repair, including treatment for Achilles tendon injuries and plantar fasciitis (heel pain)
  • Ankle keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery, which uses small cuts for faster recovery
  • Targeted joint injections to reduce pain
  • Treatment of Morton’s neuroma (a painful nerve condition in the foot)

Training and experience

I qualified in medicine with an MD and have gained Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons in England and Edinburgh, as well as specialist orthopaedic qualifications.

Alongside my clinical work, I support training and quality standards in the NHS. I work as a Trust Appraiser and Clinical Supervisor for junior doctors.

I am also involved in research. I have published work on the treatment of common foot conditions, including plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendon problems.

I focus entirely on foot and ankle conditions. This allows me to provide highly specialised care.
