About
Mr Babu is an experienced Consultant Urologist providing comprehensive care across all aspects of general and cancer urology. He completed his medical degree at Barts and The London Medical School before undertaking specialist urology training throughout Yorkshire.
He currently serves as the Urology Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Lead and Lead Clinician for Acute Urology for the Trust, overseeing high‑quality, coordinated care for patients across the region.
Clinical Interests
Mr Babu has extensive expertise in the investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of urological conditions, with specialist interests including:
- Kidney stone treatment, using minimally invasive endoscopic techniques
- Urological cancer diagnostics for bladder, prostate, kidney, and testicular cancers
- Advanced prostate diagnostics, including MRI and targeted prostate biopsy
- Keyhole surgery for urological cancers
- Male urinary symptoms, including difficulty passing urine, frequent urination, or weak flow
- Minimally invasive prostate procedures, particularly UroLift
- TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate)
General Urology
Mr Babu also provides care for a wide range of general urological conditions, including:
- Investigation and treatment of blood in the urine (haematuria)
- Recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Foreskin and scrotal conditions
- Vasectomy
Research and Teaching
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Babu remains active in research and audit. He has contributed to numerous peer‑reviewed publications and regularly presents his work at regional and international meetings.
