Anthony is a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon specialising in Ankle & Foot Surgery and Lower Limb Biomechanics. Anthony has been in practice since 1997, gaining Fellowship in 2005, and has successfully managed hundreds of foot and ankle operations treating the root causes of pain.
Anthony is a substantive Consultant Podiatric Surgeon for Wye Valley NHS Trust where he has responsibilities for a primary caseload and teaching. He has special interests in sports-related injuries (trauma and overuse), Tendon pathology (Achilles and Posterior Tibial tendinitis, tendinopathies and tendinosis), nerve decompression and infection management alongside his primary caseload. He is a registered Tutor with the Royal College and is a Trauma & Orthopaedic Department mentor in foot surgery for specialty doctors.
Based at key centres in the North West of England and the West Midlands, he can offer in-person and virtual consultations and appointments including “extended hours” appointments to accommodate the patients work schedule to provide effective, pain-relieving solutions for many foot and ankle conditions, including bunions, hammer toes, heel pain and many other debilitating foot and lower limb issues.
Anthony undertakes Medico-legal work in his specialist areas.
A winner of a prestigious British Society of Rheumatology prize in 2001 enabling conference attendance and main track presentation, Anthony compounded his interest in lecturing and foot pressure measurement that he was undertaking with Orthopaedics at Wrightington Hospital into gait changes following elective total ankle replacement.
Throughout his junior training he worked across both Orthopaedic and Rheumatology directorates in the acute hospital setting, with further rotations in Vascular surgery and Neurology.
He continues to hold a lecturer Practitioner post at the University of Salford where he has provided input across undergraduate, postgraduate and external courses in topics including Radiology, Anatomy, Biomechanics and Clinical Management and Treatment Planning since 2008. He remains an active member of the Northern and Midlands Deaneries maintaining & continuing his own professional development and continues to lecture nationally at conferences annually.
Socially, Anthony is a keen athlete involved in a wide range of outdoor pursuits including multisport endurance racing in the summer and cyclocross & fell running in the colder months. He lives with his family based in South Wales and very much enjoys keeping the family’s pet goats.
