Mr Schofield has been a Consultant Surgeon at Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital for over 13 years. He trained at St.Bartholomew's Hospital and then on a surgical rotation in North West London, completing his speciality training at St Marks.
He is a general surgeon specialising in coloproctology. The majority of his work involves the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer, diverticular disease and inflammatory bowel disease.
His interests include colonoscopy and also the treatment of minor proctology such as haemorroids, fissures, fistula and pilonidal sinus. Mr Schofield also has a significant involvement in surgical emergencies and the management of the acute abdomen. He also undertakes surgery for gallbladder disease and abdominal hernia as well as skin legions and ‘lumps and bumps’.
Mr Schofield enjoys teaching medical students in his role as honorary lecturer in surgery at Keele University and is very involved in the training of junior doctors in Shropshire as Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons.
He is married with four children and his interests include playing county tennis, ski mountaineering and climbing.
