About
Mr Houghton is a General and Vascular Surgeon at the Royal Shrewsbury and Shropshire Nuffield Hospitals. As a General Surgeon he performs the full range of abdominal operations like hernia repairs and gall bladder operations. As a Vascular Surgeon he is involved in procedures on veins and arteries as well as the treatment of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). As an Endocrine Surgeon, Mr Houghton is involved in operations on the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.
He is the Lead Paediatric Surgeon for the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, operating on children with hernias, testicular maldescent and foreskin problems.

Mr Houghton did his general surgical training at Guy's Hospital in London in the 1990’s. Following a period of research in abdominal surgery he went on to specialise in vascular surgery, publishing papers on various aspects of abdominal and lower limb surgery.
