About

Mr Alhasso is a highly experienced Consultant Urological Surgeon with expertise in the diagnosis, treatment and surgical management of a wide range of urological conditions. He trained through the prestigious East of Scotland Urology Training Scheme and currently practises at the Western General Hospital and Borders General Hospital, providing both general urology services and advanced subspecialist care.

Mr Alhasso has particular expertise in female urology, functional urology, urodynamics and genito-urethral reconstructive surgery. He manages patients with complex urinary tract and pelvic floor disorders, offering comprehensive assessment, investigation and personalised treatment plans. His specialist interests include the diagnosis and treatment of urinary incontinence, overactive bladder syndrome, voiding dysfunction, urinary retention, recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), pelvic floor disorders, urethral strictures and other conditions affecting bladder and urinary function.

A key area of his practice is urodynamic testing, which involves advanced diagnostic procedures used to assess bladder function, urinary symptoms and lower urinary tract abnormalities. These investigations help guide effective treatment strategies and ensure patients receive the most appropriate medical, behavioural, minimally invasive or surgical therapies.

Mr Alhasso is also highly experienced in reconstructive urology, performing specialised procedures for patients with complex genito-urethral conditions, including urethral reconstruction, revision surgery and the management of functional urinary problems. He regularly treats patients who require reconstructive surgery following previous procedures, trauma, congenital abnormalities or chronic urological conditions.

In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Alhasso has a strong academic and research background. He worked as a Research Fellow at Imperial College School of Medicine, University of London, where he conducted research into bladder cancer, improving understanding of the diagnosis, management and outcomes of urological malignancies. He subsequently completed a Master's Degree in Surgical Sciences, further strengthening his expertise in evidence-based surgical practice.

Mr Alhasso is internationally recognised for his research in urinary incontinence and lower urinary tract dysfunction. He serves as a reviewer for the Cochrane Collaboration Incontinence Group and has published numerous systematic reviews and meta-analyses examining the effectiveness of treatments and procedures for urinary incontinence in both men and women. His work contributes to the development of best-practice guidelines and improved patient care within urology.

As a member of the International Continence Society (ICS), the European Association of Urology (EAU) and the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS), Mr Alhasso remains at the forefront of advances in urological surgery, continence care and reconstructive treatments.

Patients seeking specialist care for urinary incontinence, bladder problems, female urology, recurrent urinary tract infections, pelvic floor dysfunction, overactive bladder, urodynamic assessment, reconstructive urology and general urological conditions benefit from Mr Alhasso's extensive clinical experience, advanced surgical expertise and commitment to delivering personalised, evidence-based care.
