About
Mr Ahmed Albasty is a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton, with more than 15 years' specialist experience and over 5,000 vascular procedures performed in the UK and internationally.
His key interests are aortic disease, varicose veins and diabetic foot care. He has advanced expertise in open and endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms, including complex fenestrated and branched repair. For venous disease, he offers radiofrequency ablation, ambulatory phlebectomy, ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy and microsclerotherapy for thread veins, tailoring a minimally invasive approach to each patient. His diabetic foot practice centres on limb salvage, restoring circulation to promote healing and reduce amputation risk. He also treats carotid and peripheral arterial disease.
Mr Elbasty qualified from Cairo University and trained in London, the East of England and the South East, followed by an advanced fellowship at the Hamburg Aortic Centre, Germany. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the European Board of Vascular Surgery, where he serves as an examiner. He also serves as faculty for the University of Edinburgh's ChM in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery.
He finds the greatest reward in helping patients return to an active, confident life. He consults in English and Arabic.
