About
Miss Krishnan is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust since 2014. She has over 20 years of experience in Ophthalmology. Her specialist interests are cataract surgery, YAG capsulotomy laser, intravitreal injections, medical retina conditions including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusions and general ophthalmology including dry eyes and blepharitis.
After graduating in medicine and surgery from the University of Cambridge she began her ophthalmic career in 2003. She trained at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and completed her registrar training in Wessex. She then undertook advanced training for 1 year in Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, obtaining in-depth experience in Medical Retina conditions and cataract surgery.
Miss Krishnan became the Clinical Lead of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Diabetic Screening service in 2014, serving for 3 years and positively transforming the service. She received a Clinical Excellence award in 2017.
She is regularly invited to present at national and international meetings including the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ Congress and the European Society of Retinal Specialists. She has published her original research widely in national and international journals.
She takes great pride in effective, clear communication with patients and has continually received excellent patient feedback.
