About
I graduated from Leeds Medical School in 1997 and undertook my postgraduate training the Yorkshire region. I was appointed as a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at York Hospital in January 2008. Along with general Gynaecology my specialist areas of interest are pelvic floor disorders (such as: urinary incontinence, vaginal and uterine prolapse) and laparoscopic surgical techniques for both the investigation and treatment of menstrual problems. Procedures performed: Urogynaecology – Urinary incontinence procedures, urodynamics and cystoscopy
Prolapse treatment and surgery (including complex prolapse procedures) Hysteroscopy with endometrial biopsy and endometrial ablations, Laparoscopic surgery including ovarian surgery and hysterectomies. Also investigations and treatment for : Menopause symptoms, Menorrhagia, Menstrual disorders, Miscarriage and Post Menopausal problems Prior to becoming a consultant I held a scholarship with Otago university in New Zealand, and spent a year studying the long term effects of childbirth on the pelvic floor as part of an international study group. This led to me being invited to be an editor for the Cochrane Incontinence Review Group. Outside my professional work I am a keen netball player and play for a York team in a local league.
