About
Miss Nicola Dean graduated from Leeds Medical School in 1997 and completed her postgraduate training across the Yorkshire region. She has been a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at York Hospital since 2008.
She specialises in the diagnosis and management of pelvic floor disorders—including urinary incontinence, vaginal prolapse and uterine prolapse—and is highly experienced in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for menstrual and gynaecological conditions. Miss Dean also provides expert care for menopause symptoms, menstrual problems, miscarriage management and post‑menopausal concerns.
Earlier in her career, she undertook a research scholarship at Otago University in New Zealand, focusing on the long‑term effects of childbirth on pelvic floor function. Her research contributed to international studies in this field and led to her appointment as an editor for the Cochrane Incontinence Review Group.
