About
Miss Iranthi Meththananda is an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist known for her calm, thoughtful approach and commitment to holistic, patient-centred care. She combines a strong academic and scientific background with compassionate clinical practice, helping patients feel informed, reassured and supported.
Diagnostic excellence is central to her work. Following a competitive Fellowship in Gynaecology Diagnostics at University College London Hospital, she developed specialist expertise in advanced pelvic ultrasound, enabling rapid and accurate assessment of conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids and abnormal bleeding. By integrating high-level ultrasound into consultations, she can often provide clarity and a management plan in a single visit.
Her clinical interests include fertility, early pregnancy, recurrent miscarriage, pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, PMS/PMDD, menopause care, HRT-related bleeding, outpatient hysteroscopy and minimally invasive gynaecological surgery.
Miss Meththananda completed a PhD at Barts and The London School of Medicine, studying microbiome development, and obtained her medical degree from University College London. She is a Consultant at Medway NHS Foundation Trust, where she serves as Fertility Lead, and is also actively involved in national teaching and education.
