About
Georgina Baines is a Consultant Gynaecologist with subspecialty accreditation in Urogynaecology, working at Oxford University Hospitals. She cares for women with a wide range of gynaecological conditions, including heavy or painful periods, vaginal prolapse, and urinary incontinence.
She completed the majority of her medical training in and around Oxford. She studied Medicine at Merton College, University of Oxford, before undertaking postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She then completed a two-year Clinical Research Fellowship at King's College Hospital, London, under the supervision of Professor Linda Cardozo OBE. Following this, she returned to Oxford to complete her subspecialty training in Urogynaecology, developing particular expertise and interest in minimally invasive pelvic floor surgery.
Miss Baines has published widely in the field of Urogynaecology, with research spanning the safety of mesh implants in prolapse surgery, recurrent urinary tract infections, and the assessment of bladder function. She remains actively involved in research, and medical education. She is part of the British Society of Urogynaecology’s training committee.
Delivering high-quality, compassionate care and ensuring that patients are well-informed and supported in making decisions about their treatment is at the centre of her practice.
