About
Dr Jenkins is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist trained in Edinburgh and in the Mayo Clinic, USA, in all aspects of cardiovascular disease. Dr Jenkins delivers high-quality care across the spectrum of Cardiovascular disease, excelling in the investigation of symptoms such as breathlessness, chest pain, dizziness, and palpitations. He has a speciality interest in the management of heart failure, inherited cardiac and aortic conditions, cardiomyopathy and cardiac imaging.
He graduated in Medicine from the University of Glasgow in 2007. He completed a PhD in cardiovascular imaging at the University of Edinburgh in 2015, followed by a fellowship in the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, USA. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
He was appointed as Consultant Cardiologist in Gloucester Royal Hospital in 2021. There he also held an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist post in Oxford University Hospitals. In 2024 he was made the clinical lead for Cardiology in Gloucestershire. He re-located to Edinburgh in 2025 to work in the Edinburgh Heart Centre in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Dr Jenkins has a well-established and internationally awarded research record, and is cited on over 25 original research papers. He has national and european accreditation in heart failure, transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography, cardiac MRI and CT.
